Personas and Scenarios

Personas and scenarios are techniques that aim to help in designing users' experience. This post will provide two examples of Personas and brief Scenarios for them.

During the pandemic Chesco stores encounters unprecedented number of online buying. The higher store management decided to shift their work model responding to this. They wanted from Madlien and others to run online meetings to decide if they can shut down some stores and re-position some staff to different departments. Madlien , and her colleagues need to discuss, study and log their outcomes to be delivered to the higher management. They have been given Three weeks to do that. In the first 2 days they used Email and Phone calls. There was an obvious problem in communications. They were share different documents talking about different points but it was hard to focus on cases they discuss each time. So, Madlien thought the results they will come up will not be valid if this process persist as is.

However, She is familiar with MS-Office package and wish if they can all work on the same file without the need to deal with too much configuration steps. Generally, They need to annotate , comment and edit contents with an ability to record voice notes on some points and assign tasks to others members to complete certain tasks in a later time. [End]

Reflection:

For a cultural reason, I do not know for sure if the name of this persona in this spelling is used in English. However, I have checked that on google quickly but cannot guarantee correctness. Chesco not necessarily Tesco but very alike ( Just in case there is some real person works in Tesco with that name! It will be a mere coincidence).  I think I should put (Bio) rather than (About) in the card.

I meant this scenario to be a problem-focused and the persona to be Goal-directed / Engaging. (I'm not sure if they can be both).

Mark had a youtube channel when he was a student at the university. His vlogs about university life became popular. When he received some advertisements offers on his channel he started thinking carefully about maximising the money that comes from the web. He started picking some of his active followers and commenters to start a new web-based (and internet) business. Now, he has a network that contains podcasters, YouTubers, Twitter micro-bloggers, and a number of blogs all dedicated to creating content that interest younger people between 18-25.

He has a hierarchical business model. He is in the top management and his old trusted followers run many activities and actively recruiting more enthusiastic and active team members to keep the network active and full of attractive content for teenagers and freshmen.  The new social platforms they were using was very beneficial and sufficient to run their informal business. However, Mark started thinking of using the Slack platform which may increase the formality of his team communication.[End]

Reflection:
In this scenario, I tried to show an example of making money from the web using technology nowadays.  I tried to show a design-focused scenario, even though there is no single design to describe because it is about the whole picture of the social tools that Mark got the advantage from. It is more about the  opportunities that he got from the new era of the web. The persona would be data-driven because by the observation we may find many examples like Mark, but I do not have real data in this regard. We can use this scenario to help to make a sophisticated platform for Mark that helps him have all the tools he needs to run effectively this informal type of business and to guarantee financial fairness among his workers (Most of them are just volunteers currently maybe!)
